Philippa lives in Eynsham, Oxfordshire where she has a charming garden and wild meadow. From here, daily dog walks and a drawing class, Philippa draws inspiration for her ceramics. Most work is in porcelain, I love the whiteness and tonality of the clay once fired. Currently Philippa is moving away from slip casting to hand building.
Decorating finished work is the most exciting and often demanding part of the process. I commonly use a variety of techniques such as hand painting with coloured slip or raw oxides, or incorporating coloured clays within the making process.. Recent work has a botanical theme using just cobalt oxide and relying on tonal depth for the image.
Philippa will have an open studio in Eynsham during Oxfordshire's Artweeks Festival. She will be open on 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th, and 17th of May 11am to 6pm or other times by private appointment.
Why not visit and see for yourself her sources of inspiration, enjoy an espresso coffee in one of her cups, look at her work which is either functional or decorative. The wild flower meadow will be open for those that fancy a peak and the main garden is worth a quick look.
Philippa lives in the middle of Eynsham up a very private lane, (Queens Lane), there are a number of other exhibitions in the immediate area.
Philippa is a member of WOA and regularly exhibits at their Gallery in Bampton.

My studio
I am so lucky to have a very functional studio overlooking my garden, previously I was working in a cold garage. I love this new space and once again I am inspired and making and experimenting with new work and ideas.

Philippa fettling in her studio. This is when a piece first comes out of a mould and you have to tidy up seem lines.

Below are a number of images to give you an idea of my style and range. The first few are hand built with either stone ware or porcelain. Then there are models based on my whippets for which I am especially well known, these are slip cast in porcelain. The final group of pictures depict various containers, usually for flowers but could be used for brushes, pencils or whatever. I have a much wider range of wares. Costs vary from £25 to £80.
